Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of elected members of The Society. Meeting at least once annually, it is entrusted with the corporate governance and overall management of the ISBT. Its general and financial responsibilities are detailed in The Statutes. These include management of all matters relating to the ISBT Annual General Meeting (AGM) of members, as well as other meetings vital to the Board’s decision making and activities. The Board oversights the use of funds in accordance with The Statutes. All permanent and ad hoc ISBT committees and working parties are appointed by the Board. The Board determines when and where international and regional conferences are to be held and has vital input to their programs. Under the Board’s auspices, additional educational forums may be convened. The ISBT Board delegates specific management and administrative functions to the Executive Committee, who are all members of the Board. This group in turn, works to ensure that The Society acts in accordance with Board decisions and with resolutions of the AGM.

The ISBT Board of Directors is composed of the members of the Executive Committee, together with nine Regional Directors.

Executive Committee

The Statutes designate that the Executive Committee is composed of the President, President Elect, Past President, Vice Presidents, Secretary General and the Treasurer. It meets as often as the President deems necessary.

Regional Directors

Nine Regional Directors are elected to represent the WHO regions. Regional Directors act as advisers for their own WHO region. They assist the ISBT Membership Committee with recruitment from their region and are responsible for building and maintaining good communications with existing members to advise them about ISBT activities. Regional Directors actively support the work of their Regional Congress Organisers and Congress Organising Committees. They also need to work closely with the Secretary-General to highlight any particular issues or difficulties within their region.
