I am thrilled to welcome you to the 26th regional Congress of the ISBT that will be held in Bali, Indonesia. It is easily accessible and the setting is highly conducive to a successful interaction with colleagues and exchange of scientific information.
The programme being planned will be a combination of educational and scientific symposia distributed among numerous plenary sessions and parallel sessions. The first half day of the congress, November 14, 2015, is an Indonesian programme developed with the local organizing committee. The focus of the scientific programme will be relevant to the region and include regional speakers. Among the topics are clinical aspects of transfusion medicine, donors and donation, immunohaematology, transfusion transmitted infectious diseases and reorganization of blood services.
This will be the first time that ISBT has a congress in Indonesia. The congress President will be Yuyun SM Soedarmono, Former Director of Central Blood Transfusion Services – Indonesian Red Cross, (starting from 1 March 2015 Yuyun will work at the Ministry of Health, in the Directorate for Blood Services.) The Congress provides a unique environment to meet colleagues from around the world, to exchange experiences, and most importantly, to create memories and to help change the way we see and practice transfusion medicine.
Particular thanks go to the local organizing committee, the Congress president, and to MCI - Eurocongress v.o.f., the professional congress organiser. The support and participation of industry is also a key to success and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the sponsors and exhibitors and particularly the ISBT Corporate partners whose on-going backing is crucial to the success of the society. Lastly, special thanks and welcome to all of the delegates from across the region . Please be assured of a warm welcome and great Indonesian hospitality.
I look forward to meeting you all in Indonesia.
