ISBT Strategic Plan
2026-2023
Thinking
ISBT 2026-2030
As we move into the 2026 -2030 period, we face immense global challenges - conflict, climate disruption, crises of trust, and erosion of mutual understanding. In this context, transfusion medicine and cellular therapies play a uniquely vital role, alongside transplantation, as the only medical fields that directly connect healthy individuals acting out of altruism with patients who depend on their generosity. This extraordinary link is one of the clearest expressions of compassion, solidarity, and responsibility.
ISBT is not simply a regional society working across borders: we are international - in name and in mission - and we embody the diversity, voices, and realities of all regions of the world.
Our strategy must balance global goals with local realities, recognising economic, cultural, and organisational diversity while pursuing shared progress.
This is why, at ISBT, we are committed to thinking big - to be ambitious in our goals; thinking with others - by strengthening synergies across the Society; thinking together, we are building a future where ISBT leads in science, equity, and education - where innovation is shared, excellence is nurtured, and transfusion care is delivered safely, sufficiently, and appropriately, for both patients and donors. - by exploring new frontiers, such as cellular therapies; and thinking globally - by embracing the diversity and interconnections of our international community.
Together, we are building a future where ISBT leads in science, equity, and education - where innovation is shared, excellence is nurtured, and transfusion care is delivered safely, sufficiently, and appropriately, for both patients and donors.
