Aim of the Live Journal Club

o    The purpose of this webinar is twofold:

  • First, it will show several myths in patient blood management (PBM) that have been encountered and then provide evidence-based facts that disprove these myths and support the correct practice for optimal patient care.
  • Second, it is hoped that the webinar will serve to educate medical students, advanced practice providers, physicians in training, and those practising.
  • Adequate transfusion medicine knowledge (and PBM knowledge) has also been linked to higher-quality patient care.

What prior knowledge is required?

The attendees are encouraged to read the publication Patient Blood Management: Myths and Facts about Red Blood Cell Transfusions: Vox Sang. 2023; 118: 509–516 before Journal Club.

Who can attend?

Medical students, advanced practice providers, physicians in training, and those practicing, as well as, medical technologists, nurses, and anyone involved in the administration of red blood cell transfusions.
