The Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF) founded the Patients’ International Blood Alliance (PIBA) to address more proactively and effectively the issue of blood safety and availability across the world.

PIBA’s aspirations include, but are not limited, to becoming a platform facilitating meaningful discussion between patients, healthcare professionals, researchers, industry representatives, and policymakers contributing to:

  • bridging the gap in knowledge through the provision of educational opportunities and
  • advocating for policy improvements at the national, regional, and international levels that will ensure all patients have timely access to safe and appropriate blood transfusions.
