About the subgroup

The Wikipedia subgroup within the ISBT Clinical Transfusion Working Party comprises passionate medical professionals committed to disseminating freely-accessible comprehensive knowledge about blood transfusion and related domains.
Our subgroup is united by a common commitment to advancing the understanding in blood transfusion practices. Through collaborative efforts and collective expertise, we aim to enrich Wikipedia transfusion medicine content with accurate, up-to-date, and trustworthy information. Our goal is to provide healthcare workers and the  general public with a wealth of reliable knowledge in the field of transfusion medicine as much as possible. 

The subgroup’s objectives are

  • Enhance existing Wikipedia articles related to transfusion medicine by adding accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive information.
  • Create new Wikipedia articles on transfusion medicine topics that are currently lacking coverage or are underrepresented. 
  • Regularly review and verify the accuracy and reliability of existing transfusion medicine content on Wikipedia, correcting any inaccuracies or outdated information.

Subgroup Activities

  • We maintain the accuracy and relevance of our Wikipedia pages through systematic reviews and updates. Our approach involves identifying pages requiring revision, enabling the incorporation of the latest information. 
  • We proactively foster collaboration through quarterly virtual meetings.
