Michel Prudent
Michel Prudent obtained a Master degree (2005) in chemical and biochemical engineering from the EPFL (Switzerland) after a master thesis at the Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal, Canada, where he worked on the conceptualization of a mini-bioreactor for cell culture. Then, he joined the Laboratory of Physical and Analytical Electrochemistry (EPFL) where he obtained his PhD under the supervision of Prof. H.H. Girault in 2009. The core of his PhD was mass spectrometry with an emphasis on the interactions between metal ions and biomolecules.
Afterwards, heconsolidated his knowledge on biochemistry and protein science as a post-doctoral fellow at the Laboratory of Molecular and Chemical Biology of Neurodegeneration at the EPFL (Prof. H.A. Lashuel). In 2010, he joined the R&D unit at the Service Régional Vaudois de Transfusion Sanguine (SRTS VD) as a postdoctoral fellow. He was nominated as Privat-Docent at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) in April 2017 and Associate Professor of transfusion medicine and blood products in March 2021. He is currently leading the Department of "Innovation and Therapeutic Products" and
the Blood Products Research Laboratory at Transfusion Interrégionale CRS where he has been involved in the biochemical, functional and omic analyses of blood products (red blood cells and platelets). He is also responsible for the development of the advanced biological and cellular therapies at the Center for Research and Innovation in Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences (CRISP, CHUV).
