Welcome words from ISBT

It is my great privilege, on behalf of the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT), to welcome you to ISBT Rotterdam 2027. We are delighted to deliver this congress in collaboration with our valued Dutch partners: the Dutch Association for Blood Transfusion (NVB), Sanquin, and the National Office for Haemovigilance and Biovigilance (TRIP). Our warmest thanks go to them for their partnership and for welcoming the ISBT community to the Netherlands.

As the only ISBT Congress in 2027, the Rotterdam congress will be THE 2027 gathering of transfusion science experts and practitioners from cross the globe. The scientific program is designed to not only educate but also to share new knowledge, the latest discoveries and state-of-the-art practices in transfusion. There will be a range of Working Party meetings where you can interact with like-minded colleagues on your topics of interest and our Corporate Partners have sessions on the latest technological advancements and industry solutions.

ISBT is committed to developing the future leaders of transfusion medicine, and to alleviate some of the financial challenges of participating in international meetings multiple Harold Gunson Fellowships will again be available. These Fellowships have been a great stepping stone in many transfusion careers, therefore prepare a high-quality abstract and apply for this Fellowship.

The mild June weather in Rotterdam (11to 21oC or 52 to 70oF) combined with its cultural and historical offerings, provides the perfect location to meet transfusion professionals from other regions, build deeper professional relationships, exchange spontaneous ideas, gain personal understanding and collaborate in ways that screens simply cannot replicate. I look forward to meeting you in Rotterdam and working with you to achieve our shared mission of a world of safe, sufficient and evidence-based blood therapies.
