The event is organised by the Italian National Blood Centre, in collaboration with AVIS, under the patronage of the Ministry of Health (requested) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (requested)
Strengthening transfusion medicine must be a strategic priority in any health system, contributing to health security, continuity of care, and protection of the most vulnerable. The event aims to foster open discussions among institutional and stakeholders to shape sustainable and ethical international cooperation in transfusion medicine and beyond. It is open to a diverse international audience, targeting all actors involved in cooperation efforts, including institutions, agencies, NGOs, research bodies, and private organisations. While focusing on transfusion medicine, the event aims to encourage reflection on new models of international cooperation to address essential health needs. It aims to advance a partnership model that acknowledges and leverages the human and technical capacities of beneficiary countries fostering cooperation grounded in mutual exchange, local empowerment, and shared accountability. In the spirit of ONE WORLD ONE BLOOD, the event highlights transfusion medicine as a key pillar of resilient and equitable health systems, with particular attention to children and women in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Access to safe blood and derived medicinal products is essential to ensure effective care in emergencies and chronic conditions.
