The ISBT Board of Directors consists of elected ISBT members, with representation from each of the six WHO regions. The board meets at person at each ISBT congress, with additional meetings on-line as required, and is entrusted with the corporate governance, overall management and strategic direction of ISBT. Some specific functions may be delegated to the Executive Committee comprising the President, President Elect, Past President, Vice-Presidents, Secretary General and Treasurer. Nominees for any of these positions should be suitably qualified for the roles, and nominees for Regional Director positions should be active within ISBT and be interested in improving transfusion practice in their region. Specifications for each of the open positions can be found below.

Regional Directors

We are looking for nominations for five Regional Directors:

  • Regional Director Latin America

  • Regional Director North America

  • Regional Director Eastern Mediterranean

  • Regional Director Western Pacific*

  • Regional Director Europe*

*Please note nominations cannot be accepted for members resident in China or the UK because there are already Regional Directors from each of these countries on the Board. Article 13.3 (f) does not permit two Regional Directors from the same country.

Nominees

Would you like to be involved in the governance of ISBT and be considered for a position on the Board of Directors? The 2026 elections for the Board of Directors could be your opportunity.

Members wishing to stand in the election must be Individual ISBT Member at 17.00 Central European Time (CET), Tuesday December 9, 2025. Candidates for the Board need to complete the nominee form and must be nominated by two individual members of the Society.

All individuals who were accepted ISBT members on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 17.00 Central European Time will receive an email on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 or Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from [email protected] with information and details for participating in the electronic ballot. Some useful information in relation to voting in the 2026 Board of Directors election. Voting commences on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, and closes at 23.59 CEST, Sunday, May 10, 2026.

Candidate information

You are encouraged to read the biography and statement of motivation for election for each nominated candidate as you go through the ballot process. 

Campaigning

Candidates have been requested to refrain from mass soliciting of votes. There is sufficient information about each of the candidates on the online voting system for members to make an informed choice.
