Jean Julliard Prize
The Jean Julliard Prize was established in 1962 in memory of the Society's first Secretary General. The Prize is awarded biennially at ISBT International Congresses in recognition of individual achievement in transfusion medicine research and excellent recently completed scientific work.
Benefits and conditions
The value of the Prize is €5,000. The Prize winner will be presented at the next International Congress of the ISBT, with a certificate stating their name and the title of the scientific contribution.  The winner(s) will be required to give a 25-30-minute lecture based upon their submission, in a Jean Julliard session during the ISBT congress at which the prize is awarded. Congress expenses will be covered, in line with current invited speaker conditions for registration, travel and accommodation.  No Prize will be awarded if the Prize winner is not present at the Congress, unless proof acceptable to the Awards and Prizes Committee has been offered, that their absence is justified.

Eligibility
The Prize is open to applications from scientists who are, at the time of submission of their manuscripts, no more than 40 years of age, and to those over 40 but at an early career stage, i.e. within five years of post-graduate qualification. The applicant need not be an ISBT member. Members of the Executive Committee, as well as members of the Awards and Prizes Committee and their co-workers are not eligible to apply for the award.

Candidates apply via the ISBT website, and on completion will receive an automatic email confirming receipt. Applications should be based on either:
- A manuscript containing recent, original scientific research; or
 - Several papers published within the last three years and related to similar scientific issues. If this approach is taken, the candidate must include an introduction to demonstrate how the papers relate to each other and provide a single title for the submission.

All applications must be written in English and include:
- A title page, which must carry the title of the submission and the name and institutional address of the candidate.
 - A Table of Contents.
 - A curriculum vitae of the candidate with a maximum length of five pages
 - A short overall description of the aims of the work, the results, and the conclusions drawn.
 - A declaration of the proportion of the practical and intellectual content of the submission provided by the candidate. When multi-authored papers are submitted, the Awards and Prizes Committee will assume that the approval of the co-authors has been obtained for the inclusion of the joint work in the submission.
 - If animal or human experimentation is involved in any part of the study, a certificate that the study has received appropriate ethical approval.

NOTE: a maximum of five additional documents can be submitted.
