This webinar was organised by the Clinical Transfusion Working Party.

Aim of the webinar

  • Described how the UK and Australia organised national governance for Ig use, including funding, advisory structures and gatekeeping mechanisms.
  • Understood how patient‑level Ig data was collected, analysed and fed back to support appropriate use and stewardship.
  • Identified practical approaches to prescribing oversight (approval panels, decision support, role of Ig nurses) and how these functioned during shortages.
  • Reflected on how similar data and governance structures could be adapted in their own countries to enable regular (e.g., annual, prospective) evaluation of Ig use.
  • Took away concrete ideas and questions to guide national or regional discussions on strengthening Ig policy, monitoring and equitable access.

What knowledge is required?

Target audience

Clinicians, health authority staff, hospital pharmacists, scientists, transfusion practitioners, nurses and blood establishment representatives involved in Ig use, policy or supply. The webinar is aimed at health professionals with a basic understanding of immunoglobulin use in clinical practice.
